Students may propose a joint program combining the M.L.A. program with the Master of Urban Planning (M.U.P.) program. Upon completion, students receive both an M.L.A. and an M.U.P. Such students must submit a proposal to the M.L.A. Coordinator describing the interdisciplinary value of the proposed joint program and show how the second degree serves as a specialization in the landscape architecture curriculum. The proposal must be approved by both units. It is then submitted to the Graduate College for their approval. The student must spend at least one academic year (two semesters) in each program. Students must complete all M.L.A. degree requirements. 48 credit hours must meet department requirements. At least 24 of these 48 credit hours must be in Landscape Architecture courses. At least 40 units must be in Urban Planning courses. The student must complete at least 20 total units of course work. The student will complete a joint M.L.A. thesis/M.U.P. capstone project. Students who are on academic probation may not apply for the joint program.
