   Exams(2X20)=            40%
   Assignments(2X30)=   60%

IV. Objectives:

      The course is an introduction to the cultural landscapes and architecture of South Asia. It is organized around building and landscape types—sacred sites, urban form, forts and capital cities, religious buildings, housing, and public places. They will be analyzed as embodiment of changing cultural ideals of spatial order and ritual activity. The influence of religion, political ideology, and social norms on the built fabric will be discussed.
